The APRC welcomes new President, Mr. Jungyul Yang

It is with pleasure that the Asia Pacific Research Committee (APRC) announces the appointment of a new President, Mr Jungyul Yang from the Korean Research Association (KORA). Jungyul is the CEO of Kantar, Korea and a Board member of KORA. KORA is a founding member of the APRC that was established in 2009 to further promote the development of Asia-focussed marketing research technologies and insights through the creation of cross-border opportunities amongst research communities within the Asia Pacific region. The APRC federation is comprised of ten research and insights associations (www.aprc-research.com) and has also joined with its equivalent federations in Europe (EFAMRO); the Americas (ARIA) and Africa (AMRA) to form the Global Research Business Network (GRBN) which connects over 40 national research associations globally and over 3500 research businesses on six continents. More than US$24.9 billion in annual research revenues (turnover) are represented by these businesses (www.grbn.org).

In recognition of his contribution to the development of the research industry as well as the rapid growth of Kantar in Korea, Jungyul Yang served as the President of KORA in 2016 and then served as the Korea Representative of APRC. Jungyul has also won the ‘Korea Marketing Frontier Grand Prize’ award in 2008 and in 2021, respectively, awarded by the Korean Marketing Association. He is currently leading Kantar in Korea, providing customized strategies and insights with the largest team of experts.

Jungyul joins the APRC Board along with Vice-Presidents, Mr. Shunichi Uchida from the Japan Marketing Research Association (JMRA); Mr Peter Harris of The Research Society (TRS) in Australia and Ms Chung Ling Huh from the Chunghwa Market Research Society (CMRS), Taiwan. Ms Winifred Henderson has been appointed Treasurer from the Research Association New Zealand (RANZ) and Elissa Molloy will remain as the Secretary-General of the Committee. The Board is very much looking forward to working with Jungyul in developing and implementing strategy for the next phase of the APRC. He will commence the role on 18 November 2021 at the conclusion of the annual online APRC Conference that is hosted by the Thailand Marketing Research Association.

“I am very glad that JY will be the new President of APRC. As one of the leading economies in APAC region, Korea has always played a key role in market research industry. KORA has made critical contribution for APRC’s set up from the beginning and the developments in the past decade. I fully believe with JY’s outstanding industry experience he will lead APRC into an exciting new stage” advised the outgoing President Andy Zhao, who also leads the China Marketing Research Association (CMRA).

Regarding his new role, Jungyul Yang, CEO of Kantar Korea said, “I am very honored to be elected as the next President. I have been dedicated to the development of the Marketing Research industry along with the growth of Kantar in Korea for the past 30 years. It is very special to have this opportunity to go a step further and broaden such efforts to the growth of the Research industry in Asia. In the future, I will work closely with the Heads of the Associations in each country in the Asia-Pacific region to promote valuable growth.”
